Mouse Doesn't Work im BeOS 5?

I loaded up BeOS 5 onto a CD and made part of my hdd BFS, and when it loads to the agreement screen, I can't click on it. I have a usb and a ps/2 mouse plugged in, and both have power b/c they are optical. I tried with the keyboard but it's like they don't ahve power (No lights come on when OS is loading). I'm on a P4 2.4 ghz machine; 1gb ram, and wanted to use flopymidi Do I need an older machine?
