End of tenancy agreement lost by landlord?

I have a new roomate moving in he gave his land lord written notice of his leaving but now the landlord is making trouble because he says he lost the end of tenancy agrrement (written notice of tenant leaving) . I think that my new roomie has done his due dilegence and its not his problem it it was lost by the landlord. is there anything in the ontario tenant act about this?
