I so badly want a Saint Bernard, but my boyfriend wants a smaller sized dog?

I don't want to discourage you from getting a saint bernard but the sad thing is there life span is cut short by 5 years because they are not made for the weather that we experience here in the united states have you ever seen a bear coat shar pei they are adorable and have hair like a saint bernard but are a medium sized dog when full grown
