How do contempt of court warrants work in Arkansas?
Me and my ex-wife divorced in September of 2008. A part of the divorce agreement was that I had to pay her $100 a month to pay of my half of our credit card debt. I have been paying her ever since but recently I have fallen behind. I am currently behind two months ($200). She says she is tired of waiting and is going to have her lawyer file a contempt of court on me and have a warrant issued for my arrest. I currently live in Houston, TX and she still lives in Fort Smith, AR. She says that she keeps all of the emails that I send her reguarding this issue and that she will use them against me. in every email I send her I am telling her when I am going to send her money and begging her not to have me arrested. I make it clear in the emails that I want to send her the money but im just having a tough time right now. My question is, can she file a contempt of court charge on me if im only $200 behind? And if so, will the court issue a warrent for my arrest? And if a warrent IS issued, will Arkansas come to Houston to get me? What happens if I get caught up while the warrent is still active? If there is a court date set, what do I do if I cant make it all the way up there for it (I dont have a car nor the money to travel)?
